Thursday, April 26, 2018
On April 12, 2018, commercial credit professionals gathered at the Sheraton Minneapolis West Hotel in Minnetonka, Minn., for NACM North Central’s annual Fresh Ground Networking Breakfast. The event featured the association’s annual business meeting, keynote speakers Lauren Wilson from Pace LLP and Robin Schauseil from NACM national, and an educational roundtable workshop.
NACM North Central Board of Directors Chair Nathan Hutton, CICP, provided updates on the association’s financial health, membership trends and core services of credit reporting, and education and training.
Rounding out the annual meeting, attendees honored Bill Corn, CCE, CICP, manager of customer financial solutions for 3M, who received the NACM North Central Credit Executive of the Year Award. NACM North Central President and COO Toni Nuernberg installed the 2018/19 Board, and new Board Chair Joy Mitchell, CCE, CICP, commended Hutton on his work as board chair for the past year.
Wilson provided and enlightening overview of the current political climate in Washington, D.C., and updated members about the bankruptcy bill that would limit “forum shopping.” Schauseil discussed NACM’s rebranding initiative and upcoming release of a mobile app featuring association publications and other content.
The event wrapped up with an interactive membership roundtable discussion, facilitated by Hutton. Attendees exchanged ideas about credit card surcharging, the effects of tax reform, dealing with payment portals, handling reference checks and trends affecting credit services.
Thank you to attendees, speakers and allied members for making this year’s Fresh Ground Networking Breakfast a success. Special thanks to Dun & Bradstreet for sponsoring the event.
