Each year at Credit Congress, the National Association of Credit Management recognizes association members for the outstanding efforts they have made on behalf of the credit profession. The association recently recognized two NACM North Central members – Jerry Drake, CCE, and Judy Perttula, CBF – for their achievements.

Jerry Drake, CCE, director of credit and collections for Apogee Services, received the Credit Executive of Distinction award. An intelligent and articulate leader, and a true advocate for his company, his staff and his profession, Jerry is an active volunteer both in the credit field and in his community.

He served on the NACM North Central Board in 2002 through 2008, including as chair in 2005/06. He has been an active member of nearly every association group, attends both local and national events and has volunteered in numerous speaking, facilitating and hosting capacities. In 2004, he was named NACM North Central Credit Executive of the Year. In 2007/08, he was selected as a member of Leadership Owatonna, a civic organization revitalizing Owatonna, Minn. In 2013, he received NACM North Central’s James A. McIntryre Mentoring Award.

Judy Perttula, CBF, credit manager of Lyman Lumber Company, received the CBF Designation of Excellence award. A longtime NACM member with an ongoing history of giving, Judy continues to rise in the ranks of her profession and continues to nurture and mentor new credit professionals and encourage their engagement with NACM and CFDD.

She currently serves on the NACM North Central Board, has served in every position for the local Building Suppliers Group and is an active member of the CFDD Minneapolis-St. Paul chapter board. She has served in leadership positions for multiple industry credit groups and is a regular attendee at NACM North Central events. Judy earned her CBA designation in 1999 and her CBF designation in 2000. She is a volunteer for several community groups and is a supportive promoter of her profession, her company and NACM North Central.

NACM created the Designation of Excellence Awards to honor designation holders at three distinct levels: the CBA, CBF and CCE. Each honoree must have an unrelenting pursuit of excellence through enhanced and improved knowledge. Equally important is the desire to share that knowledge through speaking, teaching or mentoring.

Jerry and Judy were recognized along with other award winners at NACM’s Annual Credit Congress & Expovin Phoenix.

Congratulations to Jerry and Judy for their commitment to the commercial credit profession and for earning these well-deserved awards.
